So, as you've probably noticed, as of yesterday, articles are suddenly starting to get deleted, when previously there'd been little to no moderation of this wiki whatsoever. So, what exactly has changed?
To put it bluntly, the wiki's inaccuracy was given a giant spotlight.
Yesterday, there was a video released on the topic of Tumblr Sexyman. I won't go into the details, but during the video, it's mentioned that the sexypedia wiki has had several...questionable additions as of late. The creator of sexypedia - and the owner of the wiki - agreed, as can be seen here. And while these inaccurate articles were initially left up for comedy (as explained in the link above), with interest in researching the sexyman phenomena starting to rise again, it was decided that the wiki needed some spring cleaning.
So! A few volunteers from the renewed sexypedia (which you can join by going to any page and clicking on the discord sidebar), including myself, were promoted to admin, and we are now working to make the wiki more accurate. Because, let's be real, some of these aren't sexymen. They're just your favorite characters you wanted to slap the label onto.
With that being said, here are some general guidelines to keep in mind when considering a character to add to sexypedia. We're currently working on making an actual page for this, but this will do for now:
No Real People - OR characters adjacent to real people. This means Dream SMP sexyman or Sanders Sides sexyman articles are deleted on sight. This is also why Darkiplier isn't here, despite being on the original doc; ultimately, it was decided he was too close to Markiplier to qualify as a sexyman.
The "HUH!?" Factor - Would someone be surprised if you told them people were attracted to this character? If not, that is not a sexyman. That's just an attractive man. This is why characters from games like Genshin Impact or anime like Jojo aren't sexyman, because they're designed to be conventionally attractive, and thus, no one is surprised when you tell them people are attracted to those characters.
Actual Attraction - Characters that would just invoke the "HUH!?" don't make for a sexyman either. If they don't have enough people who are attracted to them, then they're just a random character, not a sexyman.
"Okay but he fits the tropes and I think he could've been a sexyman under different circumstances but he doesn't have the attraction :(" - That's what Class Neutralized is for! Trust me, as one of the pioneers of that class, I completely get the idea of what could have been. He can still be on here, you just have to put in the extra work to acknowledge why the stars didn't align and he's ultimately not a sexyman.
...speaking of that, that's probably my cue to start talking about myself, huh?
I'm Gold, an OG member of Sexycord, and self-proclaimed Neutralized Sexyman pioneer. I created the first instances using the Neutralized class - Ankh and Taliesin - and have participated in several of Sexycord's schemes and tricks. Even before the wiki was called out for inaccuracy, I frequently came by the wiki to do some minor editing, like adding the "Character" tag to sexyman pages (which more of you should do, by the way, saves us a headache), and as such, volunteering to be an admin seemed like a logical next step. I hope to do this wiki proud and keep things nice and clean!
I'll let the rest of the admins introduce themselves down below. Here's to working with you!
