Jack Walten is a major character from the analog horror web series, The Walten Files, created by Martin Walls.

Basic Information[]

Aforementioned above, Jack Walten is a major character from the series, the tapes and series being named after his character.

In the website findjackwalten.com , he is described as being tall (6' 2), and having dark hair and eyes. He was married to Rosemary Walten and has three kids, Sophie, Ed, and Molly. He was the co-founder of Bon's Burgers, a restaurant situated in Michigan. His best friend and fellow co-founder, Felix Kranken, took over the restaurant after his disappearance on the 11th of June.

More information regarding Jack Walten can be found on the New Walten Files Wiki.

Archetypes[]

Angst[]

In the tape, The Walten Files 3: BunnyFarm, it was revealed his friend, Felix Kranken, drove his kids home drunk, killing both kids in a car accident and burying them in Santa Juana Forest. Jack calls him, leaving 25 messages, livid, mad and worried.

"Just what the hell is wrong with you? I asked you to do one simple favor for me."

More information regarding the car accident and what follows can be found in Felix Kranken's Fandom Wiki page.

Oh, and his wife died but he wasn't really around for that.

Burton[]

I mean. Look at him, he kinda looks like Victor Van Dort in his cartoon still, the suit, the black and white, the long fingers.

Capitalist[]

Jack co-founded a restaurant, Bon's Burgers.

DILF[]

He was the father of three: Sophie, Ed and Molly Walten. He was also in his forties when he disappeared.

Distinctive Voice[]

He is voiced by Martin Walls, the show's creator.

Mysterious[]

The series was made in 2020, with three episodes, so not much was said yet on Jack Walten himself. Most of the canon information comes from the Bunnyfarm episode and the findjackwalten.com website, again compiled and can be viewed on his Fandom page.

Quotable Catchphrase[]

"Felix. Pick up the phone. Now."

Retro/4th Wall Blurring[]

First off, The Walten Files is a VHS tape style series, uploaded to Youtube. A common style shown in the series is similar to old cartoons. Second, images or stills of Jack hijack the tapes, often showing his missing poster, other times it shows his face, distorted, both in monochrome color. The tapes also just stop abruptly with no audio.

Theme Song[]

What the hell is wrong with you? plays as he calls Felix Kranken regarding his children.

Well-Dressed/Suitguy[]

He went missing wearing a red suit. Most depictions of him are in a suit. I honestly don't think he wears anything else really.

Fanon[]

Animal Theming[]

Up until the fourth full episode, "Cyberfun Tech", Jack was commonly thought to be the ghost inhabiting Bon, but this is not true - Bon is himself a manifested spirit, whom we do not know the origins of as of yet.

Eye Imagery[]

Fanart often depicts him with glowing red eyes, accompanied with a wide grin mostly relating to his actions during the Bunnyfarm episode.

Johnlocked[]

A popular ship involving Jack Walten is with his friend, Felix Kranken, who killed his kids. Martin Walls doesn't mind it though, so don't go around harassing people over it.

Marked Canon/Fanon Divergence[]

While we know him mostly from the Bunnyfarm episode, there's really not much other information than he's missing, a father and a founder. A lot of people tend to mischaracterize Jack Walten, according to this tweet made by Martin Walls himself.
